Do you love cupcakes and making your own soap and spa products?

Today I'm going to show you how to combine those two loves to make a soap cupcake so realistic that you're going to want to eat it! (please don't …although it looks real, this is a recipe for soap after all!).

There was a time in my life where I was making dozens, and dozens of soap cupcakes a day and selling them online.

When I say that I've tried every single recipe when it comes to making soap cupcakes…I mean it.

The recipe I'm about to share with you today is a result of much trial and error, testing and tweaking and the final product creates what I believe to be the most realistic and sturdiest soap cupcake in the land. 😀

Having a sturdy soap cupcake, and not fragile, soft ‘icing' is important if you intend on giving these beauties away to family and friends for the Holiday season.

Kids and even many adults, go insane over how cute these things are so they really do make a great holiday gift! Just make sure to gift your recipient a fair warning that even though these babies look real, they are indeed soap and you can not eat them (especially the kiddies).

The Soap Cupcake Recipe is broken down into two parts: The base, and the icing.

Let's start first with the tools that you'll need:

• A Mixing Bowl
• An Electric Scale
• A Spatula
• A Knife
• A Cutting Board
• Measuring Spoons

Then you'll also need:

• A piping bag
• An Electric mixer

Note that I like to find a nice tall and wide glass that I can place the piping bag into the glass and fold the top of the piping bag around the edges. This helps me to easily scoop the icing mixture into the piping bag without getting messy.

Soap Cupcake Base (Makes About 6 Soap Cupcake Bases)

• 2 Cups Goats Milk Melt And Pour
• 15 ML Essential Oil (You can also use fragrance oil, but I prefer to keep it as natural as possible)
• Color Block Of Your Choice (Brown for chocolate – For a natural colorant you could use cocoa powder).

Step 1:

Cut your goats milk melt and pour into small squares, place it in a microwavable safe bowl with your color block in the microwave. Once melted, add your essential oil (or fragrance oil).

Step 2:

Pour into your silicone cupcake molds.  I recommend the Ideal Me Brand ones that I us. They are dishwasher safe, and don't lose their color.

Pour your melted base into your silicone molds and let cool for 2-4 hours before removing them from the molds and making the icing.

Soap Icing

• 1 Cup Foaming Bath Whip
• 1 1/4 Cup Clear Melt And Pour
• 1 Tablespoon Liquid Glycerin
• 3 Tablespoons Meringue Powder
• 7ml Essential Oil (or fragrance oil) of your choice

Instructions

Step 1:

Add the foaming bath whip, meringue powder, liquid glycerin and essential oil to your mixing bowl. Hand mix with a spatula before turning on the electric mixer (or you'll have meringue powder everywhere!). Use the electric mixer for about 1 minute.

Step 2:

Cut up the clear melt and pour soap base, place in a bowl and put in the microwave. Microwave on short bursts until it's fully melted.  Once the melt and pour has cooled down to 150 or 160 degrees, slowly add it to the mixing bowl. Mix for 1-2 minutes on high.

This step is the most important and most challenging to get right as once you add the melt and pour, you only have so long before it becomes too hard to work with. The mixture has to be stiff enough and cool enough that when piped, it doesn't become a runny mess but warm enough and soft enough that it isn't too hard to pipe.  Timing is very important.

Step 3:

Have your piping bag ready and put your mixture into the bag. You'll have about 3-5 minutes to work with mixture before it starts to harden up and become too difficult to pipe.

Step 4:

Add sprinkles or glitter if you desire and you're done!

And there you have it…you can see me below with an entire plate of soap cupcakes ready to be given as gifts to friends and family for the holidays.
