What is the best type of yarn to use to crochet an afghan?
My favorite type of yarn to use to crochet an afghan is a chunky yarn. This type of yarn creates a thicker, warmer fabric that is perfect for a cozy blanket. You can use any type of yarn that you prefer, but chunky yarn is a good choice for an afghan because it works up quickly and creates a nice, dense fabric. Not to mention the number of skeins of yarn you need is typically much less than a lighter weight yarn. Although it depends on the size blanket (more information on this below).
I find yarn for blankets is always tricky. Sometimes you see a pattern and love the look but you might want to crochet it with different yarn and you just don't know how to make it work. How big is a crochet afghan?
