SPECIAL INFORMATION: This pattern uses a basic 2 row repeat cable. When the pattern calls for a cabled section, sk 3 st, make a tr into each of the next 3 st, then working in front of those sts, come back to the first sk st, and make a tr into each of the 3 skipped sts.
Cable Pattern (worked over 6 sts) : sk 3 sts, tr in each of the next 3 sts, working in front of sts just made, tr in each of the 3 sk sts.
FINISHED SIZE: Adult extra small band has 16” circumference laid flat, will stretch up to 20”
Gauge: 9 dc rnds x 20 dc= 4” ; 22 blsc rows x 20 blsc = 4”
Row 1: With polar pink, ch 13, sc into the 2nd st from the hook, and each st across, turn. (12 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, blsc into the first st and each st across, turn.
Rows 2- 88: Repeat row 2.
Next row: Working along the top of the piece, make a sc into the top of each row, turn. (88 sc)
Cabled section :
Rnd 1: Change to Ice, ch 3 (counts as first dc throughout the pattern), dc in each of the next 4 sts. Work the cable pattern over the next 6 st section. *Dc into each of the next 5 sts, then work the cable pattern over the next 6 st section. Repeat from * around. Sl st into the top of the ch 3 to join. (8 cabled sections)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc into each of the next 4 sts. *Fpdc around each of the next 6 sts**, dc into each of the next 5 sts, repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **. Sl st into the top of the ch 3 to join.
Rnds 3-12: Repeat rnds 1 & 2.
For a medium adult size hat, make the brim 99 rows, and the body of the hat will have 9 cables.
For a large adult size, make the brim 110 rows, and the body of the hat will have 10 cables.
A larger hat will require more yarn.
