So let’s kick this thing off by starting with…
What Is A Trust Machine?
It’s a passive, scalable marketing engine designed to build an unshakeable bond of trust between absolute strangers and your business.
On a high level, a trust machine has just three moving parts to make up the Minimal Viable Product, and can be set up in an afternoon:
- Facebook Ads
- A Blog That Uses Content Marketing To Attract Customers & Convert Into Buyers
- Something To Sell
The something to sell could be physical products, E-books, Affiliate products or a subscription program. I’ll outline what I use, below.
Why You Don’t Need To Be An Expert On A Niche Topic To Launch A Profitable Trust Machine
Over the years of working in the information marketing space, there is one major issue that I’ve observed that holds you back from launching and growing a profitable information marketing business.
And that is, most people are NOT an expert on any one topic or niche.
When you’re not an expert on a niche topic it makes it extremely hard to create great content.
Without great content, your audience can see through you, they'll disappear faster than a lightning bolt and it’s no wonder you never convert your visitors into leads, and your leads into customers.
Great content, helpful content, content that solves a problem is the foundation of any successful information marketing business.
Without it, your foundation will crumble and your business will never stand a chance.
So with that said, the first goal of my new course is to help you create great content, even if you aren’t an expert so you can build the right foundation.
How To Create Great Content Even If You Aren’t An Expert In A Niche Topic
It’s simple … and it comes down to leveraging other people’s expertise to create the content for you.
I’ve launched products in niches I know nothing about that have made hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales, all with content created by other people, by experts in that niche.
Simply put, I find experts that already exist in this niche and reach out to them to create the content for me.
This content can be used to make:
- Blog Posts
- Monthly Subscription Programs
- So Much More…
I’ve used experts to create blog posts, E-books, Subscription Program, Emails…the list goes on.
This approach has several benefits:
- Less Writing: You can create content without having to write very much yourself. This is huge for you if you hate writing or aren't very good.
- Transfer The Experts Credibility To You: For example if the expert has been featured on New York Times, Forbes, Mashable etc, you can now use these trust symbols to bring credibility to your content.
- Establish Yourself As An Authority: By working with experts to create your content, you become an authority by association and eventually establish yourself as an expert in that market.
How do you find experts to work with you? How do you convince them to create content for your business? And how do you entice them to do all of this without paying an arm and a leg (and often for free)?
Great Content Creates A Cheap Traffic Opportunity For You
Facebook is a social platform. People like and share information that they genuinely enjoy.
If you can create content that resonates with your audience, you can tap into the social benefits of the Facebook advertising platform.
Take a look at one of my ads that has the ultimate goal of building my list and selling an E-book.
The key here is I’ve created an ad disguised as a blog post.
Do you think that I would have had 283 people share my ad, if that ad was linking back directly to my product, instead of valuable content?
Ultimately the more people who engage with that ad, share it, like it and click on it, the lower my cost per click is going to be and the more people I’m able to get back to my website.
In this case my cost per link click was only $.04 cents.
This is the CPC that I’m consistently seeing using these strategies…$0.03, $0.04, $0.05 clicks.
This is a big take away.
People share content they get value from, but just because you’re giving value, doesn’t mean you can’t sell.
In fact in my blog posts I always sell. Whether I’m selling someone on the idea of opting in and joining my list, or direct linking to a product that I sell or an affiliate product.
This is called Content Marketing.
Content marketing is a marketing approach that is focused on creating and distributing valuable content in order to attract and retain an audience and ultimately drive revenue for your business.
Once you’re done reading this post, take a look around the blog you’re on right now.
Most, if not all of my content posts link to either an optin form to build my list, or directly to a product to drive immediate revenue.
Build A Better List, Faster
In fact using content marketing to build your list is an effective strategy to grow and monetize your audience.
Even small lists are profitable.
Here’s an example of a list that I built off of a blog.
It’s only 562 people.
And yet it generated $2,556 dollars in commissions in just 7 days, which at a 50% commission rate means that total sales were over $5,000.
I believe that because blogs and content marketing are so giving, they give value while selling that you’re actually building better, more passionate customers.
You’re building true fans, and as Kevin Kelly explains in his article 1,000 True Fans, you don’t need a large fan base to build a serious business.
All you need is just 1,000 true fans, that will buy everything and anything you produce.
If each true fan spends $100 a year, that’s $100,000 per year in revenue and in my experience $100 is a very conservative estimate of what a true fan will spend each year.
What Are Your Fans Buying?
It could be E-books, monthly subscription programs, physical products, affiliate products, services…whatever.
I focus primarily on digital products, specifically E-books and monthly recurring revenue programs, but this method works with anything.
In The Trust Machine course I detail how to quickly create high quality E-books, digital courses and monthly recurring revenue programs that will sell using the same outsourced expert strategy I outlined above.
The Compound Effect Of Great Content Marketing
Another big benefit of using blogs and content marketing is you bank future value.
What do I mean by that?
Every time you release a blog post, you’re creating an additional entry point in to your business.
Each blog post is an opportunity to include an optin form in order to build your list, to include a link to your product and to make a sale.
The more entry points to your business, the more opportunities you have to find and capture customers.
Unlike email marketing which is a closed circuit system – I.e you send to one person and it ends there, a blog is open circuit, which means your content is free to be ranked, shared and distributed which will grows your business organically for you.
This isn't to say that you shouldn't use email marketing. Email marketing is an important component of The Trust Machine, but it's most effective when layered on top of the other marketing strategies.
Think about it this way…
How long have you been trying to build an online business?
Imagine if all this time you were slowly but surely adding to your trust machine, to your blog.
You would have dozens, maybe even hundreds of entry points to your business all the while growing your true fan base. Over time this becomes a very sizable business.
I’ve worked with blogs that make tens of thousands of dollars all the way up to millions of dollars a year.
Don’t take this information lightly.
Now of course with every business model, there is a science to identifying what your audience wants, and creating content and products that connect and resonate with your audience in a way that’s going to motivate them to trust you and spend money with you.
What do you think?
